TURKISH and Australian archaeologists have discovered a “museum under the sea” at Gallipoli.

The find includes the wreck of a barge that carried injured and dead Australian and New Zealand soldiers from Anzac Cove during the World War I Gallipoli campaign in Turkey, The Dominion Post reported.

A sonar survey also found the wreck of British destroyer HMS Lewis, along with shrapnel from lead bullets fired by Turkish snipers at Anzac troops as they swam in the sea, the newspaper reported.

The survey covered the seabed adjacent to the beaches where Australian and New Zealand troops landed in the 1915 campaign.

A small, innocuous-looking fish called a chinaman leatherjacket is swarming in Sydney waters, attacking and eating anything that moves, from bare fishing hooks to large marlin.

From 10cm to about 40cm long, the yellow and black striped leatherjackets look nothing like the popular perception of a marine predator, having tiny beak-like mouths a few centimetres wide.

But inside is a set of teeth like razor-sharp chisels. Anglers complain of leatherjackets biting straight through fishing hooks.

A British diver has set a new world record by spending more than TWO DAYS under water.

Will Goodman, 33, spent an astonishing 48 hours, 9 minutes and 17 seconds under water during a dive in Indonesia.

This beat the previous record by more than six minutes and landed him the record for the longest open saltwater scuba dive.

Mr Goodman, a professional diver originally from Hertfordshire, performed the dive off the island of Lombok.

He stayed in a metal frame to make sure he stayed at the right depth and was fed rations through a tube.

His support team, keeping a close eye from above, kept replenishing his air supply as he needed it.

Mr Goodman managed to stay awake by watching films on an underwater iPod but says it was a physical ordeal.
