I moved to New Zealand from Australia in 2005. In Adelaide I was a member of the Adelaide University Scuba Club, so it seemed logical to join a university club in Auckland to meet people and get into diving locally.
I think the scuba diving in New Zealand is awesome, although to be fair it takes little to impress me when diving as I just love being in the water. I’m usually the one out diving under jetties in less than one metre of visibility, searching for weird creatures in the muck.
I did my PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water in Honduras, Central America, in 2003. I’ve since done my PADI Rescue Diver, TDI Advanced Nitrox, TDI Decompression Procedures and TDI Extended Range courses with Shane Housham at Northland Dive (the ‘Cowshed’). In 2009 I completed GUE Fundamentals with Jamie Obern from TechDiveNZ.
I love taking photographs underwater. I’m currently shooting with a Canon Powershot G9 in Ikelite housing with a single Inon Z240 strobe. I don’t have any photographic qualifications to speak of, but I’d be more than happy to talk underwater photography with you.
