Conservation Officer

Hannah Thompson
I’m your conservation Officer. I have been in love with the sea since
before I could walk and took my first snorkel at the Poor Knights when
I was 18 months old. When I was seven I submitted my first admission
in favour of the full protection of the Poor Knights (what can I say?
I love the place!) and have since been a strong supporter of Marine
Reserves, even helping in the setting up process of some.

This is my second year in the club. I did my Undergrad in Otago (BSc
in Ecology adn Marine Science)  where I gained a healthy appreciation
for good wet suits and fresh Kai Moana when it started to
significantly subsidised my food budget.  At Auckland I am currently
doing my Marine Science Masters on coral reefs erosion in Fiji (yes it
involves field work… yay!).

I currently have my PADI Open water which I did in Dunedin (very cold)
and my Advanced which I got in Stewart Island (also cold, but strangly
enough warmer than Dunedin…)

Feel free to talk to me about anything Conservation/Ecology/Sea based,
like I said, I love it all! Promise not to lecture anyone, but I may
spout random facts or really bad jokes your way.
