A diver has been flown to Wellington Hospital after being slashed by a boat propeller in the Marlborough Sounds this afternoon.
Westpac rescue helicopter crewman Dave Greenberg said the chopper flew to Ships Cove in the Sounds about 2.30pm.
The man was surfacing from a dive when his catchbag got caught in the propeller and dragged him into it.
“He suffered a deep cut to his leg,” Mr Greenberg said.
The chopper landed near the Ships Cove dock and collected the patient, a 58-year-old man from Palmerston North.
He was being treated for the serious cut at Wellington Hospital this afternoon.
